14 March 2012
The Charity Commission for Northern Ireland, the new independent regulator of Northern Ireland charities, is consulting on its first Equality Scheme and Action Plan.
The equality scheme and plan set out how the Commission proposes to fulfil its Section 75 statutory equality duties, and its Section 49A disability duties.
The Commission is firmly committed to promoting and supporting equality and diversity in regulating the estimated 7,000 – 10,000 Northern Ireland charities. The Commission is keen to hear the views of a wide range of organisations and individuals before the plan and scheme are signed off. It is, therefore, an opportunity to influence and inform an important piece of the Commission's work.
The consultation period will run for a period of 13 weeks ending on Friday 8th June 2012.
You will find links to the Equality Scheme and Action Plan, the Audit of Inequalities, and summary documents on our website.
The Commission has also helpfully provided three ways to respond to the Consultation. You can do this in one of three ways.
